What is your favorite gem, not a diamond, ruby, emerald or sapphire?
Mine is iolite pleochroic and because no one is ever sure what It is and it seems to "change colors. I also love pink tourmaline.
My favorite is opal b / c it is my birthstone and I love the game of colors. Opal is amorphous, that in no crystals, but may have water inside the structure. That's what gives it that fiery palette of colors. I love the moon stone, the mineral feldspar, the has cut and polished. By the way do not know most people that is purple quartz amethyst! If you've ever seen Rutilquarz, it is awesome too. It is the mineral rutile, which looks like little needles in quartz.
